# I have a Google Maps pin

> I have a Google Maps pin — Polygon One

A pin supplies a point, not a plot boundary.

1. Open the actual production location in Google Maps. An office or postal address is insufficient.
2. On a computer, right-click the point and copy the displayed coordinate pair.
3. In the portal, open coordinate entry. Enter **latitude, longitude**, in that order, in decimal degrees.
4. Check country and location. Add actual hectares and other required details, then confirm the operation.

Use the copied numbers, not a Maps link or Plus Code. GeoJSON uses the opposite order: longitude before latitude.

First check whether a single point is sufficient for your plot. Larger plots need their actual polygon boundary. A visible pin or many decimal places does not itself establish sufficient measurement accuracy.

If the location is unclear, ask the producer. Do not invent a boundary around the pin.
