Coordinate entry expects decimal degrees. Convert ° ′ ″ values before entering them.
  1. Identify latitude and longitude and retain the N/S and E/W directions.
  2. For each coordinate, use positive magnitudes: degrees + minutes / 60 + seconds / 3600.
  3. For south or west, make the entire result negative; north and east remain positive. Minutes and seconds must each be below 60.
  4. Check the location and enter WGS 84 decimal degrees in the coordinate field.
This changes notation, not measurement accuracy. Many calculator digits do not make a coarse source more precise. Do not append zeros or round to pass a precision check. If the reference system is unknown or the source precision insufficient, request better original data. If rejected, follow the coordinate-check guidance. Confirm only substantiated values; conversion alone is not an import.
