Overview

The relevance check establishes the EUDR classification of your articles. Open Articles (/articles) or the manual-classification task in the dashboard. Resolve open classifications first, then review the data and risks for relevant articles.
EUDR-relevant is not a completed risk assessment or an approval. The classification does not automatically mean that a new DDS must be created for every article. The next steps depend on factors including your role, the transaction and existing DDS coverage. See DDS & orders.

Read and filter the result

Use the EUDR filter in the article list: An open manual check can coexist with either a “yes” or a “no” relevance value. Revisit the classification when the product or its materials change. Compliance is a separate field; the status glossary explains the differences.

How classification works

HS codes when creating or updating articles

Polygon One evaluates the HS code when you create an article through the interface, article import or API. You do not start a separate analysis job for this. An explicitly set manual value can replace automatic classification. Changing the HS code can recalculate the classification, including updates through import or the API. Afterwards, check EUDR relevance, commodity and manual-check status again. In an article-import update row, an empty HS-code field preserves the existing code; new EUDR articles require a code. See Articles for the detailed import rules.

Material composition

When material rows exist, they determine the article’s classification. A relevant component makes the article relevant in the platform; ambiguous material codes can still require a manual check. Review or correct Material composition when editing the article, or the data from the bill-of-materials import. An article-level classification does not override these material details. When several relevant commodities are present, the single commodity-group column shows only the priority commodity; review the material rows for the complete composition.

Resolve open classifications

1

Check the basis

Filter by Needs Manual Check. Open the article and review the full HS code and actual materials. A more precise code may resolve the uncertainty.
2

Classify individually or in bulk

For articles without material rows, set the EUDR classification when editing. For several articles, select the rows and choose Set EUDR classification. When choosing Relevant, you must select the commodity. You need permission to manage articles.
3

Check the result

The bulk-action result reports how many articles were updated and how many were skipped because material details exist. If your selection is too large, narrow the filter. Review skipped articles through their material composition; confirming does not automatically resolve every selected row.

When the supplier answers the material question

For supported ambiguous HS codes, the supplier can state whether the commodity is present. An answer of contains can resolve an open classification as relevant; existing material details take precedence. Unknown leaves the check open. Does not contain is not automatically applied as an exclusion. Review the answer and available product documentation. Select the affected articles and choose Confirm supplier answers when the information supports that decision. Only matching answers that are still open are confirmed; other rows are skipped. An attached document alone is not confirmation.

Which commodities are covered

The seven commodity groups are cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, rubber, soya and wood. The products listed in Annex I, including their descriptions and exclusions, determine the scope; the mere presence of a commodity is not a complete assessment of legal scope.
